The last phase of Sony’s electric vehicle development project has begun. We have been hearing about the company’s debut into the auto industry for a number of years, and in January, we had the opportunity to view the first four-wheel-drive Sony in person. All of these rumors and conjectures have now been confirmed by the authorities. The first electric vehicle’s release date is known, and Sony and Honda are collaborating.
As a result of their collaboration, we now got a name called “Sony Honda Mobility”. At the outset of the firm, each partner will contribute 35.5 million euros, for a total investment of over 66 million euros. In 2025, they want to launch their first EV. The US, Japan, and Europe are the target markets for the automobiles.
Keep in mind that Sony is not the first and certainly won’t be the last business to join the market for automotive electronics. While Apple has been discussed for over 10 years, Huawei also joined the automotive industry. Sony, though, is unquestionably the first to have a completed product.
By the end of the decade, Honda plans to offer 30 electric cars and invest over $37 billion on electrification. Both sides will gain from the partnership with Sony, as Honda will have access to digital technology while the Japanese business will have available manufacturing technologies and car building.
