This past weekend, a 1980 Ford Ford collection car smashed all sales records by selling for 672,989 euros (596,250 pounds).
In excess of its pre-sale estimate of 169,305 to 203,166 euros (150,000 to 180,000 pounds), the 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 sold on Saturday for a winning offer that was 4.5 times greater than the previous record Ever paid for one of these contemporary treasures, the “Limited Edition.”

Given that many of the 500 Cosworth Rs500 units have been destroyed by new competitors who purchased high performance vehicles in the 1980s, it is unknown how many of the original units are still in existence.
Several were also extensively modified or converted to racing vehicles, which will have reduced their value in the burgeoning classic car market.
